Andrzej Duda suggests Poland could leave EU

Minister of digital affairs floats the idea

Duda's second term ends in August 2025

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland's minister of digital affairs suggested Sunday that the country could leave the European Union, a move that would be a major blow to the bloc.

In an interview with the Polish news agency PAP, Marek Zagórski said that Poland could be forced to leave the EU if it is not treated fairly by the bloc.

"We are not a colony of Brussels," Zagórski said. "We are a sovereign country and we will not tolerate being treated as second-class citizens."

Zagórski's comments come amid growing tensions between Poland and the EU over a number of issues, including the rule of law and migration.

The EU has repeatedly accused Poland of violating the rule of law by undermining the independence of the judiciary and the media.

Poland has also been criticized for its refusal to accept asylum-seekers from other EU countries.

The EU has threatened to take legal action against Poland if it does not address these concerns.

Zagórski's comments suggest that Poland is prepared to leave the EU if it does not get its way.

Such a move would be a major blow to the bloc, which has been struggling to maintain unity in recent years.

It would also be a major victory for Poland's right-wing government, which has been increasingly critical of the EU.
