Micaceous Scaling in Psoriasis
Definition and Characteristics
Micaceous scaling refers to the thin, silvery-white or mica-like appearance of scales in psoriatic plaques. The amount and thickness of this scale can vary from person to person.
Clinical Manifestations
Psoriatic plaques typically present with well-demarcated, erythematous (red) and raised patches of skin covered by micaceous scales. Lesions can range in size from small papules to large plaques and are often found on the elbows, forearms, knees, and scalp.
