PF indicts Renan, Jucá and Eduardo Braga for corruption
The Federal Police issued an indictment against former President of the Senate Renan Calheiros, former Minister Romero Jucá and former Senator Eduardo Braga of the MDB for corruption
The indictment is a result of the Lava Jato investigation and accuses the three politicians of receiving bribes from the construction company Odebrecht in exchange for favorable treatment in government contracts.
Renan Calheiros is accused of receiving 17 million reais in bribes from Odebrecht, while Jucá is accused of receiving 3 million reais
Braga is accused of receiving 1 million reais. The indictment is a major development in the Lava Jato investigation, which has already led to the convictions of several high-profile politicians and businessmen.
If convicted, the three politicians could face up to 12 years in prison
