Tony Ralston starts for Scotland at Hampden

Celtic defender Tony Ralston made his first start for Scotland in their 2-0 friendly win over Latvia at Hampden Park on Saturday. The 23-year-old replaced Nathan Patterson at right-back and played the full 90 minutes.

Ralston's performance

Ralston was solid in defense, making several important tackles and interceptions. He also showed good attacking intent, getting forward well and delivering some dangerous crosses into the box.

His performance was praised by Scotland manager Steve Clarke, who said: "Tony was excellent tonight. He was solid defensively and showed good attacking intent. He's a young player with a lot of potential and I'm delighted with his performance tonight."

Scotland's win

Scotland's win was their first under new manager Steve Clarke. They took the lead in the 25th minute when Ryan Fraser scored from close range. John McGinn doubled their advantage in the 59th minute with a superb strike from outside the box.

The win was a morale-boosting one for Scotland, who are preparing for their UEFA Nations League campaign which begins in September.

Scotland's next match

Scotland's next match is a friendly against Ukraine at Hampden Park on Tuesday.
